Sustainability and Certifications
Sustainability has long been at the top of EFLA's agenda. We're BREEAM and Nordic Swan certified, helping clients minimise the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure, ensure occupants’ health and safety, and reduce costs.
A holistic approach
Eco-friendly buildings are the future. They’re easier on the environment, and save your organisation operational and maintenance costs too. Certification schemes including BREEAM and the Nordic Swan Eco-Label foster a holistic approach to sustainability, guiding organisations towards environmental, social, health and net-zero goals. Every member of EFLA’s team is certified under a BREEAM scheme, including:
- BREEAM International New Construction
- BREEAM International Non-Domestic Refurbishment
- BREEAM In Use
- BREEAM Communities.
We’re also a Nordic Swan Licensee, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to stringent environmental, quality and health criteria. The Nordic Swan scheme covers both new buildings and renovations.
Experts in sustainability
We're a BREEAM pioneer in Iceland, having joined the scheme in 2008. Some of our team members are Accredited Professionals, whose role is to provide expert advice to design teams about BREEAM requirements, facilitate their efforts, and ensure they meet their target BREEAM ratings. Others are Assessors, who check each project against the relevant criteria, and assign its rating. We’ve established effective work methods for the certification process based on project management best practice. The breadth of our expertise gives us the advantage in our consultation work, and in recruiting the very best specialists to our team.
Building a better future
With BREEAM or Nordic Swan certification, your organisation knows it’s playing its part in building a better future. Our team will help you set ambitious goals and navigate the certification process - you can rely on our encouragement throughout! You’ll be rewarded with a healthy and resilient building. Its environmental impact, energy usage and operational costs will be lower, while its value to you, its occupants and our society will be far higher.
